A Good Drill Weekend

            Drill normally starts for us on Saturday mornings but this weekend Drill started early and it turned out to be a very rewarding weekend for our unit. On Friday, October 5th the CO, Mrs. Guiles and Young Marines GySgt. Guiles, SSgt. Guiles, LCpl. Fitzpatrick, Sgt. Hedlund and Pvt. Haydon. Met with Mrs. Mayra Alvarado from the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). Mrs. Alvarado presented our unit with a check from the SONGS Corporate Office in support of our unit’s yearly Deployment Mrs. Alvarado explains to the Young Mariens what SONGS does and why they are supporting our unit., Mrs. Mayra Alvarado from SONGS presents the TVYM's with a Donation from the SONGS Office., The Young Marines and CO Guiles pose for a picture for Mrs. Alvarado. Mrs. Alvarado said that the people at SONGS are very proud to support our Young Marine unit and what we represent in our community. Mrs. Alvarado met the Young Marines and staff at the Veterans Memorial in Temecula The Yioung Marines pose one last time before leaving.. Ooh-Rah!! SONGS thank you for your support.  We cannot give our Young Marines these opportunities without the people like you and the Corporations supporting.

            October 6th, drill started off early today with Young Marines meeting Mrs. Guiles the Unit Adjutant at the Temecula Library.   They were there to support a local community effort “the friends of the library” book sale. The Young Marines,  Mrs. Guiles and the Young Marines’ parents helped setup and organize thousands of donated books, . The sales of these books go to help support our City’s public library system. When the task of setting up these books was completed the Young Marines and Mrs. Guiles arrived at Vail Lake and joined the rest of the unit for their normal drill activities. During Drill CO Guiles took a handful of Young Marines into the warehouse where they drill and put the finishing touches on the Vail Lake Haunted House. Our unit helps support Vail Lake for all they do for us, every year we participate in their Haunted House and Haunted Hayride. What a Busy day indeed after all of the haunted House had been completed and the unit was dismissed. CO Guiles, Mrs. Guiles and Mrs. Aguilar took a handful of Young Marines back to the library and put what books there were away and helped clean up the area around the library , , , . Ooh- Rah!!!
