Temecula Valley Young Marines Collect nearly 10,000 Books for
our Deployed Troops.
The temecula Valley Young Marines have collected nearly 10,000 books
for our troops deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan and for those who are in the Recovery hospitals in Germany. The books were collected from a Store in Barstow California this past Christmas weekend. A small cadre of Young Marines (SSgt. Guiles, J, SSgt. Guiles, N, Sgt. Smith and LCpl Perez), Parent Volunteers (Mr. Perez and Mr. Rivera) and TVYM Staff member (Mrs. Theresa Aguilar) meet CO Guiles at 0600 on Saturday morning the 23rd of December. This group from the unit on a two hour drive to Barstow California, their mission was to arrive at the Book Den a small book store that is going out of business. Upon arriving at the Book den the Young Marines meet Mr. and Mrs. Craig (their partner Mrs. Barbara Whitson could not be there). The Craig's watched as the Young Marines and their adult staff loaded up a 35 foot RV

. Sgt. Smith and Mr. Rivera were in Charge of loading Mr. Rivera's 15 Passenger Van
, While SSgt. Guiles, N and Mr. Perez organized the loading of Mr. Perez's chevy truck
. Luckily for the Young Marines Mrs. Craig had boxed and categorized all of the books for an easy load up. there was a certian time that the CO and Mr. rivera stopped and looked at the books that never ended and wondered if they could fit them all in the vehicles
. But never fail all of the books fit into the vehicles after some strategic packing and strapping down
. After a 2 hour drive back down to Temecula the unit unloaded the books
and the team takes a minute to pose for a picture
. The Young Marines are currently making liaison with an Air Mobilization unit to try and air lift the books to the deployed troops. The Temecula Valley Young Marines will be checking the 10,000 books to see if there are any children's books that can be given to any nearby base libraries. It was the units last mission before the new year arrives. it was a Wonderful way to usher in Christmas and the New Year as well. Outstanding job Temecula Valley Young Marines. A special thank you goes out to Mr. Art Boudreau for loaning the unit his RV for this mission as well as Mr. Perez and Mr. Rivera for the use of their vehicle. All of this could not have been made possible for our troops without the genorous donation by Mr. and Mrs. Craig
and their business partner Mrs. Barbra Whitson a big thank goes to them for their devotion to our troops.
