Temecula City's Lght parade 2007

This year’s light parade started off with a bang the unit built a float and got their costumes ready for the fun at the parade slated for November 30th. Unfortunately Mother Nature had a plan of her own it rained for two days and the city had to reschedule the parade until December 14th. This was the first time in 15 years that the city had to cancel its parade all was ok though we are Young Marines and we can adjust. Our theme was Santa’s workshop our float was decorated by many Young Marines and parent volunteers and it looked good. A few Young Marines were dressed as presents ; others were dressed as elves, and toys , ,, , , . As the parade was about ready to kick off the CO received a phone call from the adjutant the float had taken a devastating blow from some vandals, and then another phone call that they would not be able to get the float to the parade on time. It’s not our unit’s way to back out or be deterred so we overcame our problem and marched over to our starting area at cone 53. While at the strating area the CO waited for the Adjutant to bring his costume to him while he and the XO Mrs. Aguilar created a new theme. The units Adjutant arrived just before step off time with 3 minutes to spare the CO quickly put on his costume and the unit stepped off (The CO was the head elf) . Away we went we walked the entire parade route we had had Young Marines dancing and singing waving and yelling merry Christmas!! At one point the presents ran up to the announcer’s booth and were asking where the Christmas tree was so they can get under it. As the parade progressed so did the spirit of Christmas, the presents decided to run over to a couple of motorcycle officers . They told the police officers they were presents but someone took their Christmas tree. The Police Officers played along and turned on their lights they even took out there books and started taking notes telling the present they would find there Christmas tree. With some smiles and a merry Christmas the presents rejoined the unit as they finished the parade. It was a fun time once again at the city’s Christmas parade good job Young Marines.
