Temecula City's Christmas Parade 2009

On December 4th the Temecula valley young Marines participated in the City's 17th annual Santa’s Electric Light Parade. The Young Marines meet at their training facility on November 22nd and started making their costumes the theme for this years parade was Temecula's 20th birthday. So with the help of the staff an parents the Young Marines dressed themselves up as huge presents for Christmas and the city's birthday , , The Co is having way to much fun, . One of the units parents Mr. Frobose helped the unit out by riding his clidesdale horse (named Diesel) in the parade). That was one huge horse but he seemed to have a lot of fun the CO put a few Young Marines in the carriage with Mr. Frobose and Diesel. The Young Marines waited at their selected spot #43 , right behind the Relay fro Life people. The Relay Committee asked if we could have a few Young Marines walk with them but instead a few of the parents said they would volunteer to walk with the Relay for Life float, so the Young Marines could walk with their unit. We all had a great time walking in the parade, the Young Marines staid in a staggered column of two's and sang Christmas songs and shouted out Merry Christmas to all of the people watching the parade . When the Young Marines got close to the reviewing stand they all gathered around and yell out "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TEMECULA!!!" and "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!". The unit continued down the road led by Young Marine's Sgt. Major and 1st Sgt. Guiles holding the banner . The CO and the rest of the staff were mixed in with the Young Marines to provide security, motivation and to sing songs too.

About an hour later the unit came to he second announcer (Geoffrey) we know him from the Relay for Life as he announced the unit to the crowd the Young Marines yelled out "MERRY CHRISTMAS GEOFFREY!!!" Geoffrey laughed and gave the unit a salute. As the Young Marines came to their final stop the CO gathered them all up and took their picture before their parents came and picked them up . It was a fun night and the Young Marines did an outstanding job you marched in front of 30,000 spectators and in the end we won second place!!! for the humorous category there were 90 parade entries.
