Distinguished Unit Citation Award
On July 22nd 2007 the National Executive Director Mr. Mike Kessler (Lt Col. USMC Ret) paid a visit to the Temecula Valley young Marines. During his visit he told the Young Marines and parents of how proud he was of their unit
. He re visited the ALC in San Antonio, Texas where he awarded the Temecula Valley Young Marines the unit of the year awards for 2007 – 2008. For what Mr. Kessler called a Kodak moment for the parents he presented Commanding Officer Guiles with the National Unit of the Year award
. Mr. Kessler talked with the parents and Young Marines about the Young Marines program and how much the Young Marines organization is quickly becoming the number one youth organization in the United States. Then Mr., Kessler announced something else to the Young Marines he was pleased to present the unit with the Distinguished Unit Citation (Gold star in lieu of second award)
. Mr. Kessler told the Young Marines and parents why they were being presented with this award and apologized as he accidentally forgot to bring the citation with him. However Mr. Kessler did inform the Young Marines and parents that Temecula Valley was is the only unit as far as he knows to have been presented with the Distinguished Unit Citation for a second time. As the ceremony ended Mr. Krampe from the Murrietta Marine Corps League chapter stood up and was introduced by CO Guiles
. Mr. Krampe gave a small class to the Young Marines and the parents on the American Creed
. as Mr. Krampe finished he asked everyone to place their right hand over their hearts. Mr. Krampe then led everyone in reciting the American Creed
.
It was truly a proud day for the Temecula valley Young Marines their parents and for their staff. Mr. Kessler congratulated the Young Marines on the jobs they had done to rate such an award. He also talked about how hard and how much the staff cares about their unit.
