Goodbye to Vail Lake, Hello to our new home.....
Yes, it is a sad predicament we are in but the Temecula Valley Young Marines will survive. It seems that while the unit was deployed a decision was made by the owners of Vail lake Resort. They sent a letter via email to one of our staff members, Mrs. Munoz, giving our Young Marines’ unit (according to the letter) 30 days to vacate the building we have been utilizing for the past 5 years. Although there are no other buildings for us we are free to use the property. However, we have nowhere to store our uniforms, tents, camping gear or use of a classroom. We are in a hurry to find a new home and to move out and meet the deadline. I don’t think that it would have hit so hard had we been given more heads up and more time to move out. I mean in the past 5 years the Young Marines and parents have performed almost 900+ hours of community service for the owners of Vail Lake Resort including Halloween
, Color Guards
,
, Easter (YM/MGySgt. Guiles as the bunny)
, Special events like JDRF walk and supporting the Vailocity Mountain bike races
,
Cleaning up around the camp grounds, dripping springs Secuirty and extra help at the Vail Lake Wine and Music Festival and parking and security for car shows and more.
All I can say is…. Things happen for a reason. Goodbye Vail lake Resort and hello to our new home. No matter what, this will not interrupt our Young Marine training. We will adapt, overcome, and push on as our counterparts would… the United States Marines !!!
Semper Fi everyone.
