A Father’s Day Surprise
On June 17 th from 0600-1000 the Temecula Valley Young Marines provided support to the City of Murrieta. The city asked if the Young Marines could help direct traffic and welcome the participants of the cities annual classic car show. The unit has been participating in this even for the past 4 years. The Young Marines presented themselves in a very professional manner
. Every car that passed through the lane of Young Marines was welcomed with a “Good morning Sir or Mam” and an Oooh-Rah or Semper Fi for those old time hard chargers

,
. The city was very pleased with the Young Marines professionalism and help. Some of the drivers commented to the Adjutant about how polite and good looking those Young Marines were and how every single one of them said “Good Morning Sir” or “Happy Father’s Day.” They were proud of all the young people.
One gentleman who remembered the Young Marines from previous years explained how much he enjoyed driving through the Young Marines’ lanes and seeing how proud they were and how they showed such great respect.
The CO and the rest of the staff walked around and checked up on the Young Marines
. The unit Corpsmen YM’s/ Cpl. Fitzpatrick and Hedlund and PFC. Masters walked around and ensured the Young Marines had water. When the event was over the CO had the unit take a picture in front of a beautiful red 1968 Dodge Charger
,
. The CO then met up with the city manager and received a free pancake breakfast card for each Young Marine

,
. After the breakfast the CO told the Young Marines to take advantage of the day and walk around the cars with their dads for father’s day and listen to the history of these beautiful vehicles
. It was another mission accomplished by the unit and a worthwhile community service event.
