Murrieta Firemans BBQ April 15th 2007

On April 15th, 2007 the Temecula Valley Young Marines participated in the Murrieta Firemans '  BBQ from 0900 to 1600.  This is an annual event that the Young Marines have been  working to provide community service for the past 4 years. Each year our unit has shined and the Young Marines have impressed everyone from the fire fighters to the police, and civilian community as they walked through the exhibits and vendors booths. The Young Marines were in charge of securing the road into the event .  Before the Young Marines could depart YM/GySgt. Aguilar ensured her Young Marines understood their instructions The  Young Marines stood fast even in the rain they maintained their posts and allowed no one to enter with a vehicle YM/SSgt. Guiles, J set up the security stations 1 & 2 to help better control the flow of traffic . Other Young Marines were in charge of providing security for the fire trucks , ,, fire fighters emergency gear and the Mobile Command Center . People came up to the Young Marines who looked very stoic at times and when they asked a question the Young Marines answered with a smile and presented themselves, their unit and the Young Marines Organization  with  the utmost respect. So impressed were people that they came back to talk to the Adjutant at the Unit's CP to find out how and when they can get their kids into the program. The  day  went on and as the JROTC and others ran for cover from the rain our Young Marines, their CO, Logistics Officer and Training Officer all stood their posts in the rain and never left their areas. I don't think anyone that was there seeking shelter from the rain could have been more impressed by our Young Marines and their leaders. The CO, Sgt. Sparks, Mrs. Aguilar and LTJG Boudreau walked the area to ensure the safety of the Young Marines , . It was the talk of the day as people walked around and said, "Good job Young Marines !"  The Battalion  Fire Chief Mr. Gary Whisenand was very glad that he had once again asked the Young Marines to help out at the BBQ. Our unit Corpsman took care of the needs of the Young Marines and the Community as their needs would arise . The fire fighters put on shows for the community to see and at each event they asked the Young Marines to control the crowd and told people "please do not to go past our Young Marines" , . In the end the Chief and some of his fire fighters posed with the Young Marines in front of the Mobile Command Center .  The Battalion  Chief spoke to the Young Marines and again reassured them that if they had not stepped up to the plate and volunteered to help out the event would not have been  such  a success . OOh- Rah Young Marines another job well done.
