On April 30th the Commanding Officer was asked to escort YM/GySgt. Katie Aguilar and her Parents to the Beverly Hills Hotel for the annual HOBY Albert Schweitzer awards. Commanding Officer Guiles also brought along the units Training Officer LTJG Art Boudreau (who had a pretty good time talking to all of the retired Naval Officers). YM/SSgt. Joshua Guiles also joined the group as well Mr. Don Krampe and his lovely wife Jean (Mr. Krampe is Hugh O’Brian’s younger brother and also a former Marine)
. There were a lot of HOBY Alumni at the event and they seemed very Interested in the Young Marines

. As the evening progressed Mr. O’Brian stopped by and shook hands with a few of the party and said “Good evening Semper Fi and all of that good stuff”. During dinner Mr. O’Brian got up on the stage and thanked everyone for being present
. Mr. O’Brain then stopped and looked at CO Guiles and asked if there were any Marines in the house and if so please stand. CO Guiles stood up so did Mr. Krampe as well as few others everyone clapped for those standing. Mr. O’Brian said there now! everyone look around we have you surrounded Mr. O’Brian was a Marine during World War II he was and still is the youngest Marine to ever to have been a Drill Instructor at the age of 17. during Dinner Mr. Krampe brought the Staff and Young Marines over to Hugh O’Brian’s table for a picture everyone gathered around Mr. Hugh O’Brian and Mr. Art Linkletter
. As the evening progressed the Honorees were asked to come up to the stage. As the evening ended Mr. Javier La Fianza the President and Chief Executive Officer of HOBY stopped everyone and thanked us for being there. Mr. La Fianza said seeing the Young Marines enjoyed seeing the Young Mariens in their uniforms looked great. Mr. Javier La Fianza said he looks forward to seeing more Young Marines at HOBY and working more closely with them. It was a honor to have been at the event and to have met Living legends (Not to mention being in the Beverly Hills Hotel it was a beautiful place). Ooh-rah Young Marines.
