Marine Corps League Commendation Ribbon

On December 15th at our unit’s annual Christmas party CO Guiles formally presented the Temecula Valley Young Marines with the Marine Corps League Commendation Ribbon. The honor was awarded to the Young Marines and staff in the unit for the culmination of things they have done from 2003 to 2006. The Unit was recognized by the National Headquarters for their dedication to both the Temecula and Murrieta communities. The Young Marines have taken part in and supported such events such as Dedication of the World War II Memorial in 2004, helping with aid for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 for which they received Congressional recognition from the First lady and Congressman Issa. The Unit has donated computers to a local foster home, 2,500 books to their local library and another 10,000 books to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Young Marines and Staff have been the for their communities providing support for the annual Murrieta Fire Fighters’ Barbeque, The City of Murrieta’s birthday celebration and Fathers’ Day Car show. The unit has also received recognition from the Library of Congress for their work on the Veterans’ History Project. The Temecula Valley Young Marines deploy each year and every time they deploy they learn something new and participate in a special event. In 2006 the Temecula Valley Young Marines deployed to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and they raised four United States Flags over the USS Arizona Memorial in honor of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country on December 7th 1941.  The unit was recognized last year at the Young Marines Adult Leader’s Conference as “Unit of the Year”. Never wavering, our unit continues to push forward and help out our community when called upon.  It was indeed an honor to receive this award.  Thank you to the National Director and the National HQ’s staff and Ooh- Rah Young Marines and Semper Fi, to our staff.
