Opening Night Ceremonies

The unit’s Adjutant was called by Mrs. Gainer Maloney of the Murrieta Little League. Mrs. Maloney was needing some assistance, she needed a color guard for their opening night ceremonies. The Adjutant checked with the Unit’s Commanding Officer and cleared it with him for Temecula Valley Young Marines color guard to present the colors for this event. The Adjutant called Mrs. Maloney back and said “our color guard would love to do the ceremony”. The opening night ceremony took place on February 27th at 1715. Upon our arrival we learned that some people never made it to help out with this event. So being good Young Marines we all pitched in and took over the various areas that were in need of support. The color guard consisted of: Young Marine Sgt. Blake, YM/Cpl. Moralez, YM/Cpl. Aguilar and YM/Cpl. Munoz. While the color guard practiced, the security force, YM/ MSgt. Guiles, N, YM/Cpl. Taylor, YM/Cpl. Redick and YM/Cpl. Riopelle secured the area and made sure all Young Marines assigned to a job were being taken care of and watched over. At 1700 the Color Guard was in position YM/MSgt. Guiles, N took his position to march on the color guard to their position for the start of the ceremony., YMMSgt.Guiles,N Marches on the Colors, The Colro Guard Marches to their position, , YMMSgt. Guiles,n Retires the colors, , , . While some Young Marines were assigned the task of ensuring that people were being helped at a table where Young Marines were collecting DVDs for operation DVD. . Other Young Marines were given the task of ensuring the safety and security of the children that were playing on the inflatable slides and jumpers. ,,,,. Young Marines even manned tables for the little leagues fundraisers. People passing by would comment to the CO and XO telling them how the Young Marines were the most professional and polite young men and women they have ever met. As the evening wore on the CO told the Young Marines that if they were not working to have fun and make sure he gets a picture of the fun and task they were a part of. Without failing the Young Marines did just that first came The Storms Baseball team’s mascot "Thunder”. , . Then came the Red Robin Restaurant’s Mascot that for some reason caught YM/MSgt Guiles eye and he hunted the big bird down for pictures . The best picture of all came when the Chic-Fil-A mascot came by and caught everyone off guard , , who says you can't work and have fun too. The evening was a hit and we were told we saved the day again by helping out so much. The evening was a hit and we were told we saved the day again by helping out so much and how much the community appreciated the Young Marines and the Young Marine program. But according to everyone the color guard was awesome, and they were the stars this evening. Well, except for the cool moon rising of course.

Ooh- Rah Young Marines great job.
