Operation Helping Hands VII 1/7

On Tuesday, February 9th 2009: CO Guiles, XO Aguilar, Sec-O Tashoff, Young Marines MSgt. Guiles and Young Marines Cpl. Munoz. Left the Temecula Valley Young Marines training area at 0330 and traveled two and a half hours to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms, California . Once they arrived to base they meet up with SSgt. Montague the Commanding Officer of the Mojave Vipers Young Marines. Their goal was to hand out DVDs to 1st Battalion 7th Marines who were deploying that week to Iraq.  It was a rainy day and the Marines and their families gathered in the base theater. As the Marines were leaving the building for their buses they would pass by the DVD station manned by XO Aguilar, Sec-O Tashoff and Young Marine Cpl. Munoz. The Marines and Sailors would walk by and take the DVDs that they liked.

Mean while CO Guiles, CO Montague and YM/MSgt. Guiles ran with big boxes of DVDs to the buses that were standing by . As they stood outside in the pouring rain with the Marines and Sailors of 1/7 handing out DVDs the momentum was moved towards the buses that the Marines were loading into. As the Marines boarded their buses CO Guiles and CO Montague asked if they could board the bus and hand out DVDs . Of course those in charge said yes, and up went YM/MSgt. Guiles onto the bus with a box of DVDs. YM/MSgt. Guiles walked down the aisle and start handing out DVDs , . When YM/MSgt. Guiles got ready to walk off the bus you could hear the Marines yell out thank you Master Sergeant Guiles!!!!

It was only a few hours of time that was given but it was once again well worth it we handed out over 450 DVDs that day and left another 350 behind for the rest of the unit deploying the next day. Good job Young Marines way to go supporting our troops .

Ooh-Rah!!
