Operation Home Front

On Sunday August 12th, the Temecula Valley Young Marines sent a Cadre of 27 Young Marines and their staff to Oceanside, California to assist Operation Homefornt in their Back to school 2007 program. The Young Marines arrived at 1100 and worked until 1600 we earned 5 hours of Community Service on this day by helping support the children of Armed Forces. The Young Marines helped Operation Homefornt by carrying boxes of donated books and categorizing them into sections for easy selection , , . The Young Marines then helped setup the backpacks for the families to obtain and manned stations to hand out backpack items . When the time came for the Military families to go through the lines the Young Marines eagerly ran up to the parents of little ones and asked if they could help them carry their items , . The day was hot but the Young Marines prevailed and showed everyone the pride the Young Marine Organization has in its community , , , . At the end of the day the Young Marines helped clean up the entire area and repack the books into boxes some were being shipped to our deployed troops while others were being reused to hand out again. The people in charge of Operation homefront asked the Young Marines to go through the lines so they too could receive a backpack and school supplies. Our Yong Marines did a great job at this community service event and never wavered and always had a smile on their faces when asking if they could help .
