On Saturday, May 10th, the Temecula Valley Young Marines were asked to provide a Color Guard, help with the hot dog stand, and supply a Young Marines information booth at the Paseo and Paloma del Sol Safety Fair. The event was to help bring these two communities together after a young girl was nearly abducted in Temecula last year. The girl managed to escape and evade the predator and call 911. The man was eventually captured by the Police. The Safety Fair had the Temecula CERT Team, Sheriffs Department and the California Highway Patrol. Stranger danger was discussed and a demonstration was provided by the Bates Taekwondo Studio on how to escape from a predator. The local law enforcement was fingerprinting and handed out a do it yourself DNA kit for your children. The Young Marines set up a booth where they handed out information on the Young Marines program and a Drug Demand Reduction pamphlet for the community, created by the unit’s Adjutant Mrs. Guiles straight from the National HQ’s TOM , . The rest of the unit worked at various places and our own booth as the Color Guard practiced and waited for the word to present the colors. Sgt. Major Rivera from 9th Communications Battalion was on hand, the Sgt. Major returned from Iraq to handle some Marine Corps business back at Camp Pendleton. While he was here he was also taking care of another mission.  He was at the Safety Fair to hand out some American flags that had been flown over Fallujah to very special people who help support the Marines of 9th Communications Battalion before they deployed.

The rest of the unit gave the Sgt. Major a huge Ooh-Rah!!! Sgt. Major gave an Ooh- rah!! back to the Young Marines.  After Sgt.
