Temecula Valley Young Marines 2006 Deployment

The Temecula valley Young Marines 2006 unit deployment is set. This years deployment will take us to Hawaii the Young Marines will visit Pearl harbor and conduct their Veterans appreciation week. While in Pearl harbor the Young Marines will conduct on the spot Veterans history interviews for the library of congress from Pearl Harbor veterans the unit will also conduct the Laying of a lei at the USS Arizona memorial. The unit will be staying as the guests of Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay. We will have 2 squad bays one for the males and one for the females. The Temecula Valley Young Marines have also been invited to join in attending the Marine Corps birthday pageant on November 9th aboard the base. The Marine Corps has reserved 46 seats for the Temecula Valley Young Marines to attend this ceremony.

Among the adventures for this deployment the Young Marines will be going to include the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Bowfin Memorial and the USS Missouri memorial. The CO will also take the Young Marines on a Company hump up to the top of Mauna Loa Volcano. plans also include a visit to the top of Diamond head and a walk through the Jungle (rainforest).

The Young Marines will visit Hawaii's historical landmarks as well as partake in a traditional Hawaiian luau. The Commanding Officer and the Temecula Staff will be adding more adventures as the deployment progresses. The Young Marines will have 2 1/2 hours of homework study a night and will be working in their deployment workbooks. Plans also include a PFT aboard the Marine Corps base and swim qual in the waters off hawaii. Upon returning from the deployment the Young Marines will partake in veterans history events with the city of Temecula as the city breaks ground for phase II of their veterans memorial on November 11th.
