The 3rd Annual TVYM Family picnic and Pie the CO in the Face 2011
On Saturday 3 June 2011 our unit held a Family picnic and the 3rd annual “Pie the CO in the Face fundraiser”, This is the best type of unit event that helps build the units cohesion and Esprit de Corps. What a blast of a day it was about 75 to 80 degrees outside it was a beautiful day for some pie throwing. There were hamburgers
hot dogs Perfectly cooked by grill master Mr. Rey Munoz. Before the event kicked off there were some awards to be passed out to Young Marines who went above and beyond for this years Relay For Life The Young
two Young Marines LCpl's Turner and Cordova were given speacila gifts from the Unit XO GySgt. Smothers for walking 54 miles during the Relay For Life
. Young Marines and their families played and enjoyed a little bonding until the events were ready to begin. Parent Volunteers and Unit Satff worked at the fundraising table and the food tables, While YM Sgt. Major Guiles handed out hot Dogs and Hamburgers
. After everyone ate chow and was reenergized the CO announced that it was time to start the games for Young Marines and their Parents. Some of the events that took place were a water balloon toss

after each event the winner was anouced and the CO picked a non-Young Marine to help call out the winning number

. The moment finally arrived when CO Guiles announced who wants Pie!!
The CO stuck his head into the pie board and everyone started to laugh
. Parents Volunteers and Staff heped to make the pies

and just as they were done. The pies started flying and a lot of them hit the CO, as soon as someone stepped up to the line the CO would start mocking the Young Marines or tiring to scare them

. Some of the Young Marines were laughing so hard they could not even through their own pies. Since the pie throwing was not limited to the Young Marines their siblings got involved. There were 51 Young Marines present with parents and siblings bringing the total to 150 people present. And just about each one bought a pie or two or four!!! It was the most fun everyone has had at a Barbeque in a long time. Everyone Young Marines and their families had a great time. The CO was a mess, but he was laughing the whole time and eating the pie ewwww.
A big Ooh-Rah goes out to the Young Marines and their families. A huge thank you to all of the parents who rogered up to volunteer and help support this event. And to Mr. Munoz for a great grilled hamburger.
