CITY OF TEMECULA’S CERTFICATE OF APPRECIATION

On October 23 the Temecula Valley Young Marines were called up by the American Red Cross and Mobilized to help out the victims of the states recent firestorm. Operation Provide Comfort was set into place by Commanding Officer Guiles, a small cadre of Young Marines, and staff. In less than 3 hours the small cadre had taken supplies from their training facility to setup an emergency shelter at Vista Murrieta High School. Upon arrival the cadre setup 80 cots, placed 80 wool blankets out 1 on each cot, unloaded 600 bottles of green tee from the unit’s warehouse, 120 packets of gum and two hot vat containers for hot fluids. The shelter eventually filled 60 of these racks and housed victims for 4 days. Operation Provide Comfort was officially ended on November 1st by the Commanding Officer and logged down as Mission Completed. On November 29th Commanding Officer Guiles attended a thank you and luncheon from the City of Temecula. During this time the Temecula Valley Young Marines were recognized for their exemplary work in the community and for their quick and aggressive response to aid those victims of the firestorm. As Mayor Washington told everyone what our Young Marines had accomplished and how much they do in the community. It was easy to see his excitement in announcing the Temecula Valley Young Marines to everyone in the audience.  Good work Young Marines and an outstanding job to the cadre that was assembled for this operation.  Teamwork will always keep our community strong!
