Special Help for Rancho Damacitas’ Christmas
On December 14th our unit’s Adjutant Mrs. Guiles received an email from the providers at the Rancho Damacitas group home. They had asked for assistance from the Young Marines to help wrap all of the Christmas presents for the kids in the group homes. The Adjutant asked the CO if this would be ok and if she could take a small cadre of parents with her. The CO gave his approval for this special Christmas request. The Mrs. Guiles arrived at the Rancho Damacitas on December 19th she was joined by Mrs. Nancy de Geus and later Mrs. Letty Sanchez, Celeste, and Young Marine Pvt. Cynthia Sanchez. Together they wrapped over 200 gifts for the kids. Still more presents were in need of wrapping so on December 20th the Mrs. Guiles returned to Rancho Damacitas with Young Marine 1st Sgt. Katie Aguilar and Mrs. Tracy McDaneld and they wrapped the remaining 300 plus gifts for the children and for the homes. The Adjutant’s small cadre of volunteers together had put in a total of 12 hours of wrapping over 540 gifts for 36 children and 6 homes. The “Wrapping Marathon” was well worth all the ribbons, bows, tape, paper, and wrapping challenges! Only one thing could be better… Seeing their faces when they receive their presents on Christmas Day and ultimately their expressions from what they find inside. The Temecula Valley Young Marines again stepped out in true Christmas spirit to help out others in our community. Ooh-Rah’s!! Go out to the unit’s Adjutant and her merry band of wrapping volunteers.
