Help Save a Life, relay today Relay For Life, 2008

It’s coming to that time of year again Young Marines… That’s right this May 17th, our unit will be hosting and participating in the American Cancer Societies Relay For Life. We already have team Alpha being led by CO Guiles (who is also the online chairperson for the Relay for Life). This team is up and running and Mrs. Madeline Blake is already logged on the CO’s team and ready to go.  We also have Temecula Valley Young Marines – Bravo, Charlie, and Delta teams!  The Young Marines have a goal of  $5,000 dollars this year. You can log in and join a team at www.events.cancer.org/rfltemeculaca.  The Temecula Valley Young Marines have been doing this for the past 4 years. Each time they gain more and more responsibilities, this year is the biggest yet since Mrs. Guiles is the Event Chair and we are helping her head up the Relay. This year’s event will be at Great Oak High School in Temecula, CA located at School 32555 Deer Hollow Way, Temecula CA 92592 .
The CO’s guidelines for this event are simple every Young Marine that signs up is at the relay for the whole 24 hours siblings are welcome to attend the event and stay the night as well as parents. Since this is a non-Young Marine function everyone can come and join on a team.  This includes ALL of the other Young Marine units too!  If you’re in driving distance – please join us!  Log on and start another Young Marine Team!   Come join Temecula Valley Young Marines to Celebrate!  Remember!  Fight Back! With the American Cancer Society.
Last Year the CO challenged the Young Marines to see who could walk the farthest Young Marine Sgt. Vaughn won by walking about 120 laps the CO dropped out at 93. This year will be different the CO is going to challenge anyone who wants to take on his challenge again this year with the most laps. This year the CO will not be in cammies with a pack on (by order of Mrs. Guiles) so he should be able to keep on going. Do I here any challengers? If so… You can sign up via email to Mrs. Guiles tvymadjutant@tvym.us and get your name on the “Challenge List” (you can check the challenge list here). We can make our goal just like we do every year but we have to start now.  We will be keeping this website active all the way until the Relay is over so everyone can see their results. Recruits from class 10-08 are welcome to sign up since you will be attending the event after graduation.
We will have lots of jobs to do YM/1stSgt Aguilar is co-chair for the Luminaries, YM/GySgt Nicholas Guiles is the Chair for the Midnight Madness with Mr. Smith and YM/GySgt. Joshua Guiles is in charge of Security with his security force for the Relay.  We are going to try and have lots of surprises this Relay and it will be a lot of fun. Make sure you pass this along to friends, family and anyone else who is interested in helping the Young Marines help the American Cancer Society fight back. OOH-Rah
If you have enough friends, families, neighbors, sports teams, classes,  to make a team (15 – 20 people) – Log-on and start your own team… We’re all working towards the same goal to fight against cancer! let's get our Young Marines out their and show yuor community that they support everyone. Remeber that this event starts on May 17th and ends on the morning of the 18th right after that CO Guiles and his staff will be on a plane heading to the National HQ's, ALC ooh-rah!!! so that means you really may not have that good of an excuse.
