Roy Rogers Rangers Roy Rogers Rangers

YEEEE....HAAAAAW!!!! On April 19th the Temecula Valley Young Marines helped open up the Roy Rogers Rangers 2008 competitions . It was a somewhat warm and dusty day for the Young Marines and Parent Volunteers. And it was initiation day for the units 28 new Recruits. The recruits were taught by CO Guiles how the balloons are to be filled and then ran out to the poles and placed in the holders so the riders can shoot at the balloons with their guns filled with black powder. Mrs. Aguilar ran the Balloon filling station ,. CO Guiles made sure everyone was locked on and ready to go and Sgt. Sparks told the Young Marines when it was safe for them to run out and replace the balloons . There were not a lot of riders today so there was not a lot of running to do today. We had 40 Young Marines present so everyone had plenty of rest between the shooting the rest of the units Young Marines were helping out at the units yard sale fundraiser. The units Corpsman YM/LCpl. Masters and Pvt Simms ensured the Young Marines had plenty of sunscreen when they asked for it and were hydrating . With the Horses running, the riders shooting , , and the Young Marines and Mrs. Aguilar filling up balloons and running out to replace them ones that were shot the day went fast , , , , . As the day wore on and the wind picked up the Young Marines had to help out Wild Kat Kate in the announcers stand and take down the shade screen because it was being blown off . But we all prevailed and the competition went on. when the end of the day was announced the Young Marines and Parent Volunteers all got on line and did a tremendous police call in fact I think was cleaner when we left than when we arrived , , , . The CO had all of the Young Marines get formed up for a picture with Wild Kat Kat and her husband Johnny and then gave them a big Ooh-Rah!! . The unit guide asked if the Young Marines can do a crazy picture the CO said sure and they did . Good job Young Marines and excellent work to the parent volunteers. Thank you to Wild Kat Kate and Johnny for asking us to help out. OOh-Rah!!!!
