Scary Nights

Halloween is here ghost and goblins and monster galore....... Ok well in this case just Young Marines, Parents and friends all made up in costumes, masks, and make-up. Every year at this time, Bill and Tish Johnson, owners of Vail Lake resort have a Haunted Hayride, Haunted House and other attractions. It runs every Friday and Saturday night for four weekends!! and runs until around 2230. The Young Marines, their parents, and friends all volunteer to work at this event for Bill and Tish. In return for helping out at this event the Temecula Valley Young Marines receive a portion of the proceeds as well as permission to use the Vail Lake resort for training and their Headquarters. It takes a lot to put this Halloween event together.  It took CO Guiles, YM/GySgt. Joshua Guiles and our former Young Marine now staff member Josh Smith, a little under 20 days to build the Haunted House. They spent every everyday Mon-Friday to build the Haunted House the trio would meet at Vail Lake and work, work, work! Whew!!! According to the guests it was all well worth it, everyone was complimenting Bill and Tish on how great the Haunted House and the Hayride were.  In fact, they keep coming back!  On November 1st  Vail Lake opens up reservations for Halloween 2009! Before you know it, Vail Lake Resort is all booked up for next year’s event. Every night the unit has provide over 50 volunteers to man these attractions with Young Marines and their family and friends. At the end of the night the unit Adjutant Mrs. Guiles signs all of the Young Marines friend’s community service sheets and thanks them all for helping out. It is a great time for all there were about 300 per night going through the Haunted House and 800 going on the Haunted Hayride. Good job Young Marines you worked hard for 4 weeks….. Oooh- Rah!!
