Field Stories from August to October 2008

From the month of August until now I have unfortunatley skipped posting web artilces due to a downed computer I will try an catch everyone up in this field article so stand by for a whirlwind tour of 2 months of unit activities.

On August 30th, 2008: The Temecula Valley Young Marines provided support for the City of Temecula's Wishes for Children Foundation is a non-profit organization that collaborates with all local charities. Our only commitment is to raise money that will help children right here in the Temecula Valley. Our Young Marines were hard at work setting up tables, trash cans and recycle bins and they were off to dirll , , ,,.If you would like to know more about the Temecula City's Wishes for Children program please visit http://www.wishesforchildren.org/.

On August 31st, 2008: The Temecula Valley Young Mariens offered thier help to the Roy Roger Rangers in Norco for one of thier SASS mounted shooting competitions.

On September 10th, 2008: The temecula Valley Young Marines support Operation DVD when CO Guiles and Mr. Smith loaded up 30,000 DVDs to ship off to the East Coast for mass distribution to our troops deployed in Iraq an Afghanistan.This was a very important day since our unit recieved 80,000 DVDs a year ago. Since helping Operation DVDs our unit has along with this shipment sent over 42,000 DVDs to the Troops, 10,000 books, 4,000 CDs, 500 PS2 and Xbox games and 20 DVD players. Our unit has also handed out more than 10,240 DVDs with Operation helping hands to deploying troops. Way to go Temecula Valley!!!, , ,

On September 24th, 2008: A small Cadre of Young Marines and the units CO went with a parent volunteer Mr. Tashoff to the Coast Station on board MCRD San Diego. While on board the station they toured they area recieved a class on the Coast Guards functions and interviewed DC2 Quintana for the Library of Congress' Veterans History project. the small cadre also on the Coast Sation in San Diego to tour it's facilities and recieve more classe on the US Coast Guard.,,

On September 24th, 2008: The Temecula Valley Young Mariens supported the Roy Rogers Rangers with community support by setting ballons for another SASS mounted shooting tournament.

On September 27th 2008: the CO Guiles and Young Marines MSgt. Guiles, Cpl. Aguilar and LCpl. Munoz recieved an Honorary Mebership award from the Murrieta Marine Corps League post 1057 from Mr. Don Herpey the post Commandant for the Temecula Valley Young Marines. Young Marine MSgt. Nicohlas Guiles answered questions from the Marine Corps League mebers. , , to view the units award please click here

On September 28th: The Temecula Valley Young Marines provided support for the first graduating Recruit class of the Miramar Young Mariens. Temecula Valley Young Marines 1st Sgt. Guiles, MSgt. Guiles, Cpl. Aguilar, LCpl. Masters and LCpl. Munoz were the color guard for this event. CO Guiles and the uNits Adjutant Mrs. guiles were also present. On September 29th, 2008: Young Marines 1st Sgt. Guiles and MSgt. Guiles Stamped and packaged 1,200 DVDs, 1 DVD player (and 20 PS2 games donated by YM/MSgt. Guiles). for deployment to Iraq in support of Operation DVD.

On September 30th, 2008: 1,200 DVDs, 1 DVD player (and 20 PS2 games donated by YM/MSgt. Guiles) were deployed to Iraq via an AC-130 cargo plane.

On September 30th and October 1st, 2008: CO Guiles, Unit Adjutant Mrs. Guiles and parnet volunteer Mrs. Madeline Blake went to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating station to help promote awarness of the Young Marines program. This event was to help gain monetary funds through and Employee Contribution Campaign much like the CFC. , , , .
