At 1800 on Friday, the 29 th of June two Temecula Valley Young Marines graduated from ALS ( Advanced Leadership School), and one graduated from JLS ( Junior Leadership School).
The previous week with the graduation of SLS ( Senior Leadership School) we had two of our Young Marines promoted. YM/GySgt. Katie Aguilar was promoted to Master Sergeant and Young Marine Staff Sergeant Joshua Guiles was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. On June 29 th both of them graduated from the National ALS YM/GySgt. Guiles had been selected in the school as a JLS Squad instructor for 3 rd Platoon and YM/MSgt. Aguilar was selected as the 2 nd Platoon Sergeant.
Young Marine Cpl. Bryanna Vaughn graduated from JLS. She graduated as 1 st Platoon’s Honor person as well as the National Junior Leadership School’s Honor Person!

Three Young Marines graduated from Leadership School and now three Young Marines who have honed their skills in school are ready to lead our unit’s Young Marines…. A little later in the evening, after the graduations, the CO walked around and people talked about their Young Marines you could hear the CO proudly telling others about his Young Marines, “Those three outstanding Young Marines are from my unit!” The CO pointed towards Gunny Guiles, Master Sergeant Aguilar and Cpl. Vaughn and people told the CO he was lucky to have such fine Young Marines. The CO said (with a grinch like grin), “Every Young Marine is a fine Young Marine, but these three are ours.”
Ooh-Rah Graduates! Congratulations to YM/MSgt. Aguilar and YM/GySgt. Guiles and Congratulations to Cpl. Vaughn on her awards. We are indeed fortunate to have Young Marine leaders like you!
