
The Temecula Valley Young Marines have been conducting unit Rappelling since 2004. CO Guiles started the units rappel masters course soon after that, rappel masters course is a long school spanning over 3 weeks. the units rappel master course is taken after the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center's Summer Mountain Leaders course. The Unit has several Certificates to obtain before becoming a rappel Master.

5. There are Four levels to becoming a Unit Rappel Master they are:
1. Novice Rappel Master ~ (has rappelled at least 15 times and participated in Rope Masters Course, hooked up at least 5 young Marines (under a Rappel Master's supervision) can tie 6 of the rappelling knots the minimum age of 13).
2. Intermediate Rappel Master ~ (has rappelled at least 20 times, taught a Rope Masters Course, hooked up at least 15 young Marines (under a Rappel Master's supervision) and taught a Rappelling course, can tie 6 of the 8 rappelling knots minimum age of 15).
3. Advanced Rappel Master ~ (has rappelled at least 30 times, has taught a Rope Masters and Rappelling Course to Young Marines and Civilians, hooked up at least 30 Young Marines, 5 Civilian's (under a Rappel Master's supervision, can tie all 8 of the rappelling knots, minimum age is 16).
4. Rappel Master ~ (has rappelled at least 40 times, has taught a Rope Masters, Rappelling, Bouldering and safety Course to Young Marines and Civilians, hooked up at least 50 Young Marines, 10 Civilian's (without a Rappel Master's supervision, Can establish, create and execute a rappel operation can tie all 8 of the rappelling knots. minimum age is 17).
