"A Young Marines Ball
and the essence of the
Marine Corps Ball Ceremonies"
To wrap up the end of Veterans Appreciation week the unit held their Young Marines and the essence of a Marine Corps Ball Ceremonies. The Units classroom was decorated by a cadre of parent volunteers led by the unit's paymaster Mrs. Munoz at 1300 that day.
At 1800 the ceremony started CO Guiles started of the Ceremony with introductions and thank you's to the parent volunteers and staff. The CO read to the Young Marines the history of the Marine Corps Ball when they officially began. He then read about the POW/MIA table that is setup in the back of the classroom. The Co was going to show the 35th Commandants message however technical difficulties popped up and the video could not be shown. Sgt. Noe Continued the ceremony by reading Gen. John LeJunes birthday message to the Young Marines.
Young Marine Sgt. Major Guiles then read the National Executive Directors birthday message to all of the Young Marines followed by the History of the Young Marines video. The Ceremonies concluded with YM/MGySgt. Guiles marching on the birthday cake. CO Guiles then cut the first piece of cake for the oldest Young Marine present (Sgt. Maj. Guiles) and the youngest Young Marine present (Pvt. Garcia).
The Young Marines enjoyed a night of camaraderie and picture taking it was night for the Young Marines to have fun and they did. The CO accomplished his mission of teaching the Young Marines about the history of the Marine Corps birthday and sending all of the Young Marines home hopped up on sugar (yes I said that).
Ooh-Rah !! Young Marines for those of you who helped support Veterans Appreciation week thank you. And thank you to Mrs. Munoz and her Cadre of parent volunteers for decorating and Mr. Colvin for taking some great photos.
