Veterans Day 2009

On November 11th 2009, the Temecula Valley Young Marines  participated in the City of San Diego's Veterans Day Parade. The  Young Marines and staff were excited this was their first parade for the City of San Diego. Adult leader Sgt. Sparks and YM/Sgt. Maj. Guiles formed the unit up in a parade formation of a column of four, . Sgt. Sparks took his place along side of the unit  (Sgt. Sparks had requested to march the unit during the parade), while CO Guiles, Sgt. Noe, Sgt. Elder and Cpl. Palmer took their places in the front of the formation holding the units banner . Unit Adjutant Mrs. Guiles was in the rear of the formation while the XO Mrs. Aguilar and Mrs. Munoz were taking pictures of the unit.

Young Marines Sgt. Major and 1st Sgt. Guiles took their places in front of the formation with the Guide leading their company with their swords drawn , it was a long parade but it was well worth it. There were lots of people on the side of the road yelling and holding signs saying thank you to our Veterans. As the parade was ending Mrs. Guiles was given a certificate from the City of San Diego for the units participation as well as everyone that participated (you can read the Parade certficate here, the participatnts can be read here).  At the end of the parade route the parade coordinator opened up a parking lot especially for our Young Marines then closed it back up. The CO had Sgt. Sparks put everyone at ease then the CO had the Unit formed into a school circle . The CO gave all of the Young marines high fives and said thank you for participating in the parade . The CO then had the unit formed into a column of two. The unit route stepped back to the vehicles, the CO had all of the Young Marines loaded up into the vehicles and off we went to MCRD, San Diego for a Company picture next to the flag pole , . After head calls the unit loaded back up into the vehicles and drove back to the drop off point in Temecula. It was a long day but it was fun and served a great purpose.

Great job Young Marines you made our veterans proud.
