| In mid April the Unit CO was asked by the owners of Vail Lake if the Young Marines could provide some support with parking cars for the Vail Lake Wine and Music festival. The festival was a annual event and the Young Marines were to work the main gate guiding people to the VIP parking and to where the free festival parking was , , , , , . The Festival itself featured such as the Average white band, Brian Simpson, Jody Whatley and James Ingram. The Air Force Reserve jazz band was even on hand with a host of other great performers. The festival was benefiting The Southern California All from the Heart - Supporting Military Families in need of assistance. The Co received word from Vail Lake owners Bill and Tish Johnson that the Young Marines were doing an outstanding job. CO guiles talked to a gentleman that came out of a limousine as he was walking across the parking lot who said he represented a popular Grammy winner. They were impressed that the Young Marines held their limo up until verification could be provided that they were allowed in the VIP section. The gentleman wanted the CO to tell his Young Marines that they were doing an outstanding job and that he felt safe being in their company. As the day progressed and the Young Marines parked the vehicles in their parking areas more and more people were commenting on the professionalism of the Security Force and the way they carried themselves while doing their jobs. The Security Force did a great job and made a huge public impact in three days the CO handed out a few business cards and talked to a lot of people about the Young Marines program and how they can find a unit in their local areas. With that kind of response from the public you know your Young Marines are doing very well. The units Security Force and Color Guard did an outstanding job this weekend. Sempr Fi, Young Marines you are looking good as always keep up the great work.
