“Bridging a Gap”

A few months ago the Temecula Valley Young Marines were asked if they could possible send 75 empty Operation DVD boxes over to the Young Marines in Okinawa Japan. CO Guiles excepted the challenge and began making contact with the Young Marines in Okinawa. CO Guiles made contact with Capt. Digiovani who gave CO Guiles all of the pertinent information for shipping the boxes to him. CO guiles told his unit and staff that it is our duty to help out our fellow Young Marines in Okinawa just as it is in the Marine Corps no Marine is left behind. The same should go for the Young Marines as well. The unit tried every angel they could think of to get the military to ship boxes, every service said it was not within their scope of Operations. Never giving up and keeping this as a number 1 mission the units Logistics Officer Theresa Aguilar finally made contact with a Marine Corps C-130 squadron, almost 4 months after being asked to send the boxes. LO Aguilar gave all of the information over to CO Guiles who made the final preparations. On 31 May, 2007 CO Guiles drove his car onto the flight line at a local Marine Corps air station and help the Marines palletize 75 Operation DVD boxes. The boxes hitched a ride on 1 June 2007, with some other cargo right to the Okinawa Young Marines at Camp Foster and they will soon be in full use. Another goodexample of Young Marine units helping out Young Marine units it’s no wonder we are the best Youth Organization out there. Even as far apart as we somtimes are we can bridge the gaps to help each other out. Semper Fi Temecula Valley young Marines great job and Semper Fi to the Okinawa Young Marines for reaching out and helping out in Operation DVD.
